Ilaij is a gelding who has competed up to 2*-level, with courses up to 1.30m. He is a horse with a lot of blood, energy and personality, combined with valuable experience in the sport. Ilaij is naturally a sensitive horse and needs a calm, consistent and experienced approach both under saddle and in the stable. Once he feels comfortable with his rider and understands what is expected of him, he is a friendly, willing and pleasant horse to work with. His last official competition was in 2024. Since then he has not competed due to lack of time. Because he has been out of the competition sport for some time, he will need a period of preparation and training to gradually get back into competition shape. Ilaij is best suited to a patient and passionate rider with experience in dealing with sensitive horses. He needs a rider who takes the time to understand him and is willing to build a partnership based on trust and consistency. He is not considered suitable for an amateur or inexperienced rider. Ilaij has his own way of working and can be sensitive around his head, requiring an expert and understanding approach. For the right rider, Ilaij offers the opportunity to further build on his extensive competition experience and continue to develop as a sport horse.
